MELANATED, IDENTITY AND MEMORY

On the evening of Saturday, 28 March 2026, a new chapter opens. AA Ujamaa will be unveiled publicly during The I AM: Melanated Identity and Memory, an intimate and powerful gathering dedicated to reflection, remembrance, and cultural renewal.

Held at The Social House, this special evening will bring together intellectuals, culturalists, musicians, storytellers, healers, and conscious vendors from across the continent and the diaspora. Through conversation, art, music, and shared presence, we gather to explore what it means to remember ourselves, our stories, our lineage, and our collective imagination.

This gathering marks the public unveiling of AA Ujamaa, a cultural house devoted to African memory, creativity, and community. It is not merely a launch, but an invitation: to reflect on who we are, to celebrate the beauty of our shared heritage, and to imagine the futures we are capable of building together.

The evening will be held in a hybrid format, welcoming both those who will join us in Nairobi and participants connecting from across Africa and the global diaspora. Come as a witness, a thinker, a listener, or a dreamer. Come to remember.

WHAT WE DO

VISION & PRACTICE

At Alkebulan’s Abode, our vision is made tangible through intentional action. We design learning modules that ground spiritual, cultural, and historical knowledge in lived experience, while events and gatherings create sacred spaces for connection, dialogue, and collective remembrance. Healing and wellness remain central to our work, ensuring that personal restoration and community care move hand in hand.

Through creative expression—art, storytelling, music, and performance—we give form to truth and imagination, while ongoing research and knowledge preservation safeguard ancestral wisdom for present and future generations. Our commitment extends firmly into children and youth futures, nurturing grounded, conscious minds equipped to carry memory forward and shape what comes next.

ACTIVITIES & INITIATIVES

Our activities and initiatives are the heartbeat of Alkebulan’s Abode; dynamic expressions of our commitment to community, healing, and cultural restoration.

From spiritual workshops and artistic showcases to community outreach and income-generating projects, each initiative is rooted in ancestral wisdom and collective upliftment. We believe in action that inspires change—creating spaces where learning, creativity, and social impact come together to empower our people and strengthen the bonds that unite us.

COMMUNITY INVITATION

"This Is a Home You Enter, Not a Brand You Follow"

Alkebulan's Abode operates as a resource-generating entity—not a non-profit—to ensure African ideas, systems, and cultural restoration are funded by and for Africans. Guided by Ubuntu economics, 5% of all proceeds support community initiatives, with full transparency in annual impact reporting.

Whether you are remembering, healing, learning, or creating; there is space for you here.

I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE

REFLECTIONS & VOICES

What began as a small, intimate gathering has grown into a living chorus of thought, memory, and expression. Reflections & Voices holds the words of those who have passed through the Abode. Poems, spoken truths, questions, and quiet revelations that mirror our collective journey.

Each voice adds weight to the movement, reminding us that Alkebulan’s Abode is not built by one vision alone, but by many hearts speaking, listening, and rising together.

WHY ALKEBULAN'S ABODE

A different approach.

In a world that often disconnects us from our roots, Alkebulan’s Abode offers a return—a return to truth, spirit, culture, and self. We are more than a community; we are a sanctuary for melanated souls seeking alignment, healing, and ancestral reconnection.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or deepening your path, the Abode welcomes you into a space where African spirituality, cultural expression, and collective empowerment are not just honored, but lived.

Here, your identity is sacred, your voice is valued, and your growth is nurtured—because the future begins when we remember who we’ve always been.
